Dr Sharma completed her specialist ophthalmology training at Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital. She held the Professorial Senior Registrar role at Sydney Eye Hospital and has worked as a consultant at both Sydney Eye Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

She completed postgraduate fellowships in strabismus at The Western Eye Hospital (London) and Moorfields Eye Hospital, the largest specialist eye hospital in Europe. She has also run medical retina clinics and performed intravitreal injections at Moorfields.
